My Website Has Moved!

Hey everyone!

This post is just a (belated) FYI: I am working on making the transition from Blogger to Tumblr because of ease-of-use, simplicity, etc., so while I am keeping this blogspot address up so that people can still access the post archives, I will no longer be updating anything here. (I will be moving significant posts over to Tumblr eventually and then deleting this site, but it may take me awhile.) Please update your feeds/bookmarks/what have you accordingly!

For news, contact info, information about appearances, and whatever else you may be interested in, please find me here: (now redirects to tumblr site)

I am also still on Twitter at @VeronicaRoth.

Thank you!

Movie Update: Clip Tomorrow + Insurgent News

There have been a few movie updates (mostly exciting ones!) so I thought I would give you the whole scoop at once, in case you haven’t seen anything yet. So! Three things!

First of all, a clip of the Divergent movie will be premiering tomorrow night on Entertainment Tonight and online at Yahoo Movies! (Check for your local listings here.) Check out a little preview on the Divergent Instagram page here, too:

I’ve seen the clip, and…WELL. You’ll see. It is so good.

Second, Summit Entertainment has set a release date for Insurgent: March 20th, 2015!

And, while we’re on the topic of that date, let’s get to our third item. Because the hope is that the second movie will come out March 2015, that means that everyone is getting to work pretty much right away. And sadly, since Neil Burger is still working like crazy on Divergent, he won’t be able to direct Insurgent (...unless we clone him using Calvin's Duplicator). He will, however, be sticking around as an executive producer, which is awesome, because Neil is awesome and has taken such good care of this story so far, from what I've seen.

And I can’t wait to see Divergent all put together! Ahh! (Can someone also try to borrow Calvin’s time machine?)

News About the "Four" Stories

All right, so it's good news/bad news time.

Everyone always wants the bad news first, so here goes.

Bad News: the three remaining stories from Four's perspective that I've been working on, which were supposed to come out later this year/early next year, have been delayed until July 2014. They'll be bundled together and sold as a hardcover under the title Four: A Divergent Collection, with some fun extra content, and at that time they will also be released as separate e-stories (so, if you've already bought the first one, "The Transfer," you don't have to pay again for it in a collection if you don't want to).

If you are asking, incredulously, "why, Veronica? Why must you do this to us?!" My answer is: the stories turned out much meatier and more substantial than I was originally anticipating when I started them. There’s just so much going on—Tobias’s reunion with his mother, his growing disillusionment with the faction system, and some of his early moments with Tris, to name a few. So I just really, really need more time to get them right. I know it sucks, but I am sure that this extra time will result in better work and better stories for everyone to read.

Okay. Good News:

-If you already pre-ordered the second story, "The Initiate," your pre-order will not be canceled. It will just take a little longer for you to get it.
-The stories are long. As in, they're about seventy pages each, so if you add them together you get about 280 pages of Tobias's story. Which is as long as some novels. So there's more to read!
-The price for the e-stories will not change, even though they're longer than anticipated.
-The stories will be better in July than they would have been if they had come out this winter, because I'm going to work my butt off to make them that way!

Which is what I'm off to do right now, actually.

Dublin, London, Charleston!

Today I am packing up my clothes and my lingering sickness (don't worry, fellow airplane travelers, I won't sneeze on you. Unless you hit me in the head with your luggage or something) and heading overseas for some Irish fun. And then some English fun. And then back across the Atlantic for some South Carolinian fun. And then back to my house for some sleep-for-three-weeks-straight fun. Basically, fun all around, is what I'm saying.

I'm especially excited because I've never been to these three places before, unless you count a brief stint at Heathrow Airport on my way to Romania, which I do not.

Here's the info:

Sunday, November 3rd, 3PM
Eason's O'Connell St
This event is, to my knowledge, sold out, but I wanted to mention it because I'm excited to meet those of you who are planning to attend!

Wednesday, November 6th, 6:30PM
Prince Charles Theater, Leicester Square, WC2H 7BY
Hosted by Waterstones

Saturday, November 9th
Info at the bottom of this page. The keynote conversation is sold out, but it looks like you can still pre-order signed books if you would like. [Sidebar: There are lots of restrictions listed there, because of time + anxiety reasons, but I promise I am friendly. And probably won't still be sneezy at that point. (Hopefully.)]

And now, to pet the dog one last time.

About the End of Allegiant (SPOILERS)

So, I am back from tour-- all the events last week were wonderful. The lovely Christian Madsen and Ansel Elgort joined me for the New York City stop, I read little pieces from the Four short stories in Dallas and San Francisco, and I sang backup for my brother in Downer's Grove. I met so many wonderful readers with thoughts and insights and stories and T-shirts and marshmallows, and it was a great time.

All week, people who had read Allegiant were asking me the same question, and people on the Internet were asking, too. I answered it very briefly in a spoilery MTV interview that went up today, but I wanted to post a longer answer that goes a little deeper for those of you who are interested. I'm trying to be very careful about marking spoilers, so hopefully all this works.

Warning: this post will spoil the end of Allegiant for you if you read it. Like within the first three paragraphs. So please proceed with caution. And if you quote this post on any other site, please do your fellow readers the kindness of marking or tagging spoilers well. Thank you!

About That Allegiant Leak

Hey guys.

I found out earlier today that a very small number of readers received finished copies of Allegiant already, instead of on October 22nd, due to a Canadian shipping error that has since been fixed. I'm disappointed, and I'm sure you are too. I personally have been waiting, pretty much since the trilogy began, for the day when the last book would come out and we would all experience it together--you for the first time and me, with the giddy anticipation of an author who finally gets to watch everyone finish the story that has been so dear to me. That's why I've been so secretive for so long! But accidents and errors just happen sometimes.

If you are one of the people who received Allegiant early: I would love it if you wanted to wait to read it until October 22nd alongside your fellow Initiates. However, I can't blame you if that's just not going to work for you. I do ask, no matter what you decide, that out of kindness and respect for your fellow Divergent readers and their reading experiences, you do not post spoilers or quotes anywhere. I know I can count on you to preserve the mystery with me-- I may be biased, but I think I have the best readers ever.

Everyone else: I think we're still going to have a great October 22nd (and weeks immediately following). Be very wary of what you read online, and we'll come out of this just fine.

Author out.
